Sharon L. Annis

Biography

Sharon L. Annis is a native of Brattleboro, Vermont. Attorney Annis is a Phi Beta Kappa, cum laude graduate of the University of Vermont with a major in English Literature and a minor in German. After college, Ms. Annis taught high school English in Salzburg, Austria on a Fulbright Fellowship and worked in the field of international education before entering law school.

Attorney Annis graduated cum laude from Western New England College School of Law in 1997 with a Juris Doctor Degree and two merit awards as a top scholar. She joined the Vermont Bar in 1998 and clerked as a trial court law clerk for the State of Vermont Judiciary until 2000, when she accepted a position as Court Manager of the then Windham Family Court in Brattleboro. From 2000 – 2010 Attorney Annis held this position, where in addition to being court clerk, she also served on the Family Rules Committee and Family Court Oversight Committee. Attorney Annis also wrote and implemented a comprehensive juvenile procedures manual for the Vermont Judiciary following significant juvenile law reforms enacted in 2008. For her service and dedication to the Judiciary, Attorney Annis received Vermont’s Public Service Award in 2009. Attorney Annis entered private practice with McCarty & Buehler in 2010, where she practiced primarily family law and also handled a variety of civil litigation cases including insurance matters, personal injury and wrongful termination cases as well as residential real estate.

Since 2013 Ms. Annis has been a partner in the Buehler & Annis law firm, focusing primarily on family law matters and various matters of civil litigation.  Buehler & Annis has been voted the best law firm in Brattleboro in both 2020 and 2021.  Ms. Annis was voted “Best Lawyer in Brattleboro” in 2021.
