Bettina V. Buehler

Bettina V. Buehler was born in Boston, Massachusetts on June 6th, 1960. She received her high school education at Williston Northampton School in Western Massachusetts. Attorney Buehler then enrolled in Denison University wherein she received various academic awards including, but not limited to, the Psi Chi National Honorary Society Award, Pi Sigma Alpha National Honorary Society Award and the Women's Recognition Award. Attorney Buehler graduated Denison University in 1982 with a B.S. in Political Science and a minor degree in Psychology. Thereafter, she relocated to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and accepted a position with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in the litigation department. She later transferred to the litigation department at Scott Paper Company wherein she reviewed and approved advertisements. Attorney Buehler elected to relocate to the State of Vermont to pursue a JD career at Vermont Law School in 1987. During her tenure at Vermont Law School , she participated in the Moot Court Trial Advocacy Competitions. Attorney Buehler received a Juris Doctor degree from Vermont Law School in 1990. She was admitted to the Vermont Bar the same year, and to the U.S. District Court, District Court of Vermont and U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit in 1995.Bettina V. After graduating law school, Attorney Buehler chose to pursue a career in criminal defense. Initially, she worked for the firm of Welch, Graham & Manby in White River Junction. Eventually, a few of the associates departed from the law firm and opened their own firm entitled Griffin, Levine & Buehler. In 1994 Attorney Buehler decided to relocate to the “big city” of Brattleboro, Vermont and to join the firm of McCarty Law Offices, P.C. From Janurary 2006 through March 2013 Attorney Buehler was the Director and Vice President of McCarty & Buehler, P.C. Between 2009 and 2012 Attorney Buehler was voted Best Attorney in Brattleboro by Market Surveys of America.

During her career as an attorney, Ms. Buehler has practiced and focused in the following areas of the law: Criminal Defense; DUI/DWI; Family Law; Personal Injury Law; Contract Disputes; and other various areas of civil litigation. Attorney Buehler maintains memberships and is active in a variety of professional organizations. Among them are: the American Bar Association; the Vermont Bar Association; The Association of Trial Lawyers of America; Vermont Trial Lawyers Association; Vermont American Inns of Court; and the Vermont Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. She also belongs to the Windsor County and Windham County Family Bench Bar Committees, the Windham Criminal Bench Bar Committee and the Windham Civility Committee. Attorney Buehler served as a Vermont Trial Lawyers Association Executive Board Member in 2000 and on the Vermont Bar Association Young Lawyers' Executive Council, as Secretary in 1995 and Treasurer in 1996. Presently, Attorney Buehler serves on the Board of Directors of the Windham County Humane Society oas the Vice President of the Board.

Sharon L. Annis

Sharon L. Annis is a native of Brattleboro, Vermont. Attorney Annis is a Phi Beta Kappa, cum laude graduate of the University of Vermont with a major in English Literature and a minor in German. After college, Ms. Annis taught high school English in Salzburg, Austria on a Fulbright Fellowship and worked in the field of international education before entering law school.Sharon L. Attorney Annis graduated cum laude from Western New England College School of Law in 1997 with a Juris Doctor Degree and two merit awards as a top scholar. She joined the Vermont Bar in 1998 and clerked as a trial court law clerk for the State of Vermont Judiciary until 2000, when she accepted a position as Court Manager of the then Windham Family Court in Brattleboro. From 2000 - 2010 Attorney Annis held this position, where in addition to being court clerk, she also served on the Family Rules Committee and Family Court Oversight Committee. Attorney Annis also wrote and implemented a comprehensive juvenile procedures manual for the Vermont Judiciary following significant juvenile law reforms enacted in 2008. For her service and dedication to the Judiciary, Attorney Annis received Vermont’s Public Service Award in 2009. Attorney Annis entered private practice with McCarty & Buehler in 2010, where she practiced primarily family law and also handled a variety of civil litigation cases including insurance matters, personal injury and wrongful termination cases as well as residential real estate.

Attorney Annis' practice at Buehler & Annis focuses primarily on family law, including divorce, parentage, relief from abuse, child custody, child support and qualified domestic relations orders. Attorney Annis also handles civil litigation matters, residential real estate transactions and appellate work.

Attorney Annis is an active member of the Brattleboro community, having served as a Chamber Busy “B”, a board member for the Windham Child Care Association and an elementary school volunteer. She is a member of the Vermont Bar Association, the Windham County Family Bar and the Vermont Association for Justice.
